I was delighted to contribute a substantial body of artwork to Goodman Games’ DCC Dying Earth Roleplaying Game, bringing the strange, decadent world of Jack Vance’s classic science fantasy to life.
My work on the project included numerous black-and-white interior illustrations, depicting the bizarre creatures, eccentric characters, ancient technologies, and surreal landscapes that define the Dying Earth setting. Working in traditional pen and ink allowed me to create richly textured illustrations that complement the game’s old-school aesthetic while capturing the wit, mystery, and otherworldly atmosphere of Vance’s stories.
In addition to the illustrations, I also created a number of maps for the game, helping players and Game Masters navigate its forgotten cities, menacing manses, and exotic locations. Cartography has long been one of my favorite aspects of fantasy illustration, and it was a pleasure to help build a world where exploration and discovery are at the heart of every adventure.
The DCC Dying Earth Roleplaying Game is a beautiful and ambitious adaptation of one of fantasy’s most influential settings, and I was honored to be part of the talented team that brought it to the tabletop.
